Help Me, I Am Trapped in Duality?
The Illusion of Separation
Don't differentiate between the divine and worldly matters—or duality.
We have a spiritual world and a mundane world. Many teachers teach that we should differentiate between the divine and worldly things.
In the Hindu religion, it is called Neti, Neti ("not this, not this"). You should ask yourself: Is this thing divine or mortal? If it is mortal or worldly, you should think Neti, Neti.
"This is wonderful, but it is not divine. It is temporary, changing, or observable—so it is not important. Let it go."
And then you recognize that you are not the body, thoughts, or emotions.
The Sufi Perspective
In the Sufi tradition, we assume that everything is important and everything is created from God. Everything is good—until we learn from it.
The greatest Sufi of all time, Attar, said:
"If you differentiate between the divine and worldly things, you are not far on the inner path."
The Bible and Awareness
The Bible tells us that there is no coincidence.
Because God teaches us something every moment. If we think something is not important, we have missed that moment to learn.
We should be totally aware of what happens inside us and what happens outside us.
Awareness is the key to learning. Without awareness, we can't learn anything.
The Spiritual World
If we are in the spiritual world, this means we have given up our body identification.
For people who have awakened Kundalini, this is an easy thing. They can do that every moment—and then they feel and see that they are everything.
One of my masters told us:
"If we come back out of the spiritual world, we are the same idiots as before. Nothing has changed."
Again, we should learn every moment and see that God gives us the next lecture.
The Story of Enlightenment
A disciple of the inner path asked a saint:
"What is enlightenment?"
The saint smiled and put down his backpack.
"What comes after enlightenment?"
The saint put on his backpack and walked away.
The Ego and the "I"
Ramakrishna said:
"Until we live in the world, we have an ego. We should make our ego a servant of the Lord—then the ego can no longer harm us. We should never say 'I'."
The Sufis say:
"For every 'I,' you have to suffer."
You can try it out. Brag about your accomplishments—and then wait. After some time, you will get punished.
Omit "I."
Gratitude Is the Key
Be thankful for everything—because even the worst times are the best times. They teach us something very important.
Always think: "Thank You."
And repeat the name of the Lord, if you want or have a personal relationship with God.
Best is to think:
"Thank You, God."
Regardless of what happens.
