A New Age Recipe for Faith in the Lord

 

Yesterday, my YouTube feed was flooded with videos about Christianity – faith in God, mega-churches, and the state of modern belief.

It got me thinking…

The Rise and Fall of Mega-Churches

In the United States, mega-churches were booming – some with seating for 15,000 to 20,000 people. They were powerful, wealthy, and influential.

But here's the problem:

Many of these so-called pastors had never studied theology. Instead of teaching scripture, they preached a mixture of Christianity + positive thinking – a feel-good gospel with little substance.

Traditional churches criticized them sharply:

"There's no word of Jesus. No real religious wisdom."

Why study theology for years when you can make $100 million or more by selling hope without sacrifice?

Before COVID, these mega-churches were money-making machines.

Then the pandemic hit. Doors closed. And after COVID, people realized:

The teaching was empty. The business was over.

Sex, Guilt, and Hypocrisy

Around the same time, shallow Christian content flooded YouTube – cheap speeches, mixed with messages about sex and lust.

Today, psychology and medicine both confirm:

Sex is healthy and natural.

So why did the church make people feel guilty about it?

"For sure – no sex, no people."

Yet many churches exploited their congregations, burdening them with shame over something God Himself created.

The Wrong Conclusion

Some now preach:

"You don't need rules or sacrifices. Just have faith in the Lord."

But that is a dangerous half-truth.

Four Truths About Real Faith

1. Every religion requires discipline

"You have to keep the rules of the religion you choose – otherwise, no religion will work." – Osho

2. God honors those who honor Him

"If you don't care for God, God doesn't care for you. If you come to work once a week instead of five days, you get fired." – African church proverb

Every single day, you must surrender to God and spend time in contemplation. Without that, you don't receive the full benefits of your faith.

3. Time is the real thief

Billy Graham said it beautifully:

"A hundred years ago, people had plenty of time. Today, everything moves faster – and we have no time left for God."

4. Stop wasting time on your phone

Instead of scrolling endlessly, use that time for God.

That one shift could change everything.

How Can I Get Faith in the Lord?

You can't see God – so how do you believe?

Let me ask you this:

Can you have faith in a goal you can only reach after many years of hard work?

When I was a kid, I dreamed of becoming an engineer.

I was bad at school. It took me over 10 years to realize that dream.

Without faith – without belief in something I couldn't yet see – I could never have done it.

So what's the difference between faith in a goal and faith in God?

The hard work.

You have to do the work to connect with the Lord – just like you do the work to achieve any meaningful dream.

The Professor and the Buddha

A professor once went to Buddha and said:

"I don't believe what you say. There is no Nirvana."

Buddha replied:

"Sit in silence beside me. Stay with my devotees. Speak not a single word for two years. Then ask me any question you like."

After some time, the professor understood.

He no longer needed to ask. He had found peace of mind – not through argument, but through presence.

The Woman Who Lost Everything

Another woman came to Buddha, broken.

She had lost her entire family – her husband, her children – one by one.

Buddha said:

"Go to every house in this village and collect one mustard seed from each home where no one has ever died."

She returned in the evening with empty hands.

Because in every house, death had visited.

Then she asked:

"Let me discover what never dies."

My Own Story

This story became my reality.

I lost our unborn child.

Then my spouse.

Then my family, my community, my job, my money.

Everything I had built was taken away.

And in that emptiness, I surrendered to the inner path.

I found my connection to God – not in a church, but in the silence.

After that, I spent over 10 years in meditation retreats – not running from the world, but running toward the truth.

Final Thought

Faith is not a one-time decision.

It is a daily practice. A surrender. A discipline.

You don't get it by sitting in a big building once a week.

You get it by showing up – every single day – in silence, in prayer, in contemplation.

"Faith without works is dead." – James 2:26

The recipe is old. But it works.

And it's more needed now than ever.
